I am writing a 10 page essay for my Engineering class and I need to write about the engineering involved in building the telescope (in particular, the lens and actual telescope). I need to use technical resources explaining how the hubble works and am having troubles finding any online.

zed asked:
The pictures that I have seen look like really colorful dust. But they have pictures of galaxies
First of all, are they real?
Secondly, how do they know where to point the telescope? (Maybe a dumb question)
And Third, how can they take the pictures if the places are so far away???

I want a telescope that can view objects in deepspace clearly, and is not too pricey. I am a beginner at stargazing but I know a lot about what is out there. But I just wanna see em too instead of just googling the images. Got any tips, and telescope models? I am open to anything.
Ok really nice post B, I will certainly check out Orions telescopes.. My dad is really into astrology so he can help me with finding stars and the such.

BookLovr5 asked:
My father-in-law just gave me his old Meade ETX-60AT telescope. The problem is, it’s missing both eye pieces and user manual. I managed to download the user manual but the eye pieces are still eluding me. How would I go about getting replacements? Do the eye pieces HAVE to be the same brand? It came with a 25mm (1.25″) and 9mm lenses, do I HAVE to get these or can I choose others? How will I know what I buy will fit in my telescope? I’m new at this and could sure use the help.
Do I have to have a Meade eyepiece or can I purchase a different brand?

I was looking at space images today, some were of stars and galaxies billions of light years away. My understanding of the subject is limited, but I know that space time is different and the stars we see now are images from the past … so the telescopes are now sending images of things supposedly from a billion years after the big bang…. so, would it be theoretically possible for us to see the beginning of time if we had a telescope powerful enough? Wow, what a weird concept, like the past is still alive today. But if it works on some degree, how far back can we go?
