I want to buy a telescope, What is the best buy for under a 1000 $ Cdn?
vnghy asked:
I need a portable telescope that’s easy to set-up and work as I am a rookie. Any suggestions for under a 1000 $ Cdn I’d appreciate your coments. There are two that I’ve been looking at, the Pronto & the Ranger? Any good?

Stick with as large as a aperture as you can. 6″ to 8″ diameter would be good. Reflectors give you more bang for the buck than any other kind of telescope as well.
Look at the Meade SN-8
A 8″ telescope on a motor drive can take wonderful deep sky images. It wont happen over night, it takes practice and understand of your optics, the camera used and the night sky.
A telescope is nothing more than a large(er) lens for your camera and the diameter is the f/stop. A 8 inch telescope of f/4 is a tremendous light gathering machine and exposures from 1 to 3 minutes to 10 to 30 can yield totally amazing results depending on the object. The moon will be way under a second, and the planets just 1 or 2..
