During the Transit of Mercury a few years ago, an Astronomy professor on campus had telescopes set up. Some were set up to project an image through the viewfinder onto a white sheet, and some had filters over the lens to view it directly. I wanted to try this with my own refracting telescope, and I swear one of the “filters” he was using was simple aluminum foil. Problem is, I can’t find ANY info. out there on whether this is safe or not.

How can you modify a telescope so the image is upright, not upside-down?

Compare the function of the objective lens of a telescope with the objective of a
microscope. In each case, do you want a large focal length or small? Why? Where is your
object? Where and what kind of image is formed? Compare the function of the eyepiece
in both instruments. Do you want a large focal length or small? Why? Where is your
“object”? Where and what kind of image is formed?

Do u think this is a good Telescope for my purpose?

JB asked:

Hi, i just tried to use my telescope tonight and when i tried to move it to any of the planets the image appears blurry. It is a Tasco Luminova and i tried a HM 25mm, H 12.5mm, and a SR 4mm lens. I can focus it on a star and i can clearly see the moon with good detail, but whenever i move to a planet it comes up blurry even after i adjust it. Please Help, thanks.
