I recently bought a telescope and tried to see jupiter and mars; however, they just look like really small bright dots even at 180x magnification. Is this how they supposed to look?

universeishere asked:

I found this 8* magnification telesope in the market recently. It is a ‘ build yourself’ telescope,i.e., we get the material inside the pack and we have to construct the telescope ourselves. Also, on its cover, it was written that we can view the craters of moonplus jupiter and saturn. We would see everything like how Galileo saw. How powerful would that telescope be and is it preferable to buy it or should I search for a telescope with more magnification?

Why do pictures come up blurry when i use a 4mm eyepiece for my reflector telescope?

But of Course asked:

I would really like to see Saturn’s rings and cloud detail on Jupiter. If I could see Neptune too, that would be awesome.

I’d also like for it to be compatible with Microsoft’s WorldWide Telescope, and under $800.

Anybody know of one?
