justme asked:

My 10″ Orion telescope sat in the garage till the mirror is filthy with dust, spider webs, and who knows what else. I’ve heard you should never touch them, but nothing short of a cleaning solution and tissue is going to do the job on this one. I was wanting to drag it out and check out Mars this week.

Any suggestions?
Thanks, Faesson. - How about it? Is soap and water ok? I had hoped to hear from an expert.

What is the mirror box that connects to the scope on a telescope called?

Is the diameter of an astronomical telescope same as its aperture or primary mirror?

I mean, when it says 10-cm telescope does it refer to its aperture (which, I think, is the light collecting area right?) or its the diameter of the primary mirror (for a reflecting telescope)?
