I have a Galileo FS-135DX Reflector and I want some new lenses. I have two lenses, galileo astroscopic 25mm and then a zoom lense that says F6.8mm and F16mm. This is like jiberish to me but i’ve been able to just put the lenses on the telescope and see the moon really close. I can see the craters and the beautiful surface. But i’d like to be able to see much more. If theres any other lenses anyone could suggest, I’d love to hear about them!

Can the Hubble telescope photograph any of the Apollo program junk left on the moon?

I was just wondering if the all powerful Hubble space telescope had the capabilities to photograph all or any of the NASA Apollo program lunar lander leftovers on the moon. And if so why have they not done it. The only reason I can think of is the moon is too close for it to focus.

What is a good telescope brand/size to view the moon?

Stevie asked:

I’ve never had a telescope so know nothing about astronomy. I realize it depends on how close I want to view it, but I don’t know how to explain the detail I’d like to see.

I bough a new telescope and have a studied celestial maps. I tried to look at the Moon and I couldn’t see anything. I’ve just put everything together. The model is a Celestron Astromaster 76eq.

What is a good telescope for viewing more than just the moon but for a good price?

I want to get my young son a telescope for Christmas. I don’t want to get a toy but I don’t want something above his level either. What is the best magnification I can get to be able to see clear details of the moon but not overly fragile or detailed equipment? What also is the best magnification to see some details of Saturn or Jupiter too?

TIA…

How big of a telescope would you need to resolve the LCROSS impact?

Fuzzy Bear asked:

What will the scale of the impact be? I really haven’t looked into it. I know that resolving small objects on the moon is basically a no-go, but I have no idea about the cloud the impact is going to make. Would you need a super telescope, or would the backyard variety do? If I’m going to be up at 3:30 am I want to make sure I’ll be able to see something. Otherwise I’ll catch it on video later.
If it helps you figure it out, the dust plumes are supposed to be around 6 miles high.

Where can I find a good telescope at a cheap price?

And by good, I mean you can at least see stars or shooting stars with it or the moon really nicely. It’s for a 15 year old so nothing toddlerish.
