melicious asked: Read an article on line about this and I am not sure I understand how it works; the article actually referred to the telescopes ability to photograph “back in time” and it lost me completely. I mean, does the telescope view what’s out there now and calculate backwards to come to a conclusion as to what the universe was like then? Anyone who can shed light, please do.

zed asked:
The pictures that I have seen look like really colorful dust. But they have pictures of galaxies
First of all, are they real?
Secondly, how do they know where to point the telescope? (Maybe a dumb question)
And Third, how can they take the pictures if the places are so far away???

Sandi G asked:
So when a telescope takes pictures of different galaxy’s and the they’re all spiral and colorful…is that how they really look up in space or is the color filled in after to show us what they look like? I know when you’re in space they say the stars don’t twinkle and shine the way we see them from earth. Are they visible as they are in pictures?
