Search for a program called Stellarium, it’s free and will show you where the planets are and lots of other things. Just play around with it and you can learn a lot about how the sky works.
And I bought my scope on ebay. xyzpdqfoo

Astronomics (http://www.astronomics.com/ ) is a long-established store with a broad range of products. Orion (http://www.telescope.com/ ) is reliable and popular, though they carry less variety.
The Sky & Telescope website (http://www.skyandtelescope.com/ ) has a lot of useful information, including sky maps. Skymaps.com (http://skymaps.com/ ) has nice printable charts. injanier

I’ve bought many telescopes and accessories from Orion over the past ten years, and have been very happy with their quality and service.
The best way to find planets is to learn the basic constellations. Then you will easily see which objects don’t belong. For example, Leo is high on the meridian just after sunset right now, and looks like a backwards question mark on the right and a right-angle triangle on the left. But instead of having one bright star as the dot on the bottom of the question mark, right now it has TWO dots, one of which is Saturn. Gemini has two bright stars side by side, Castor and Pollux. But right now these two stars form a triangle with a third bright object: the planet Mars. Geoff G

its easy to find planets. just check out sky charts like on heavens-above.com or skytonight.com then go outside and find the constellation its in, find a major star that’s near the planet on the chart and then find the star outside. ex: Saturn is in the constellation Leo, near the major star Regulus. to answer your question about the telescope accessories, you can get a lot online at sites like apogeeinc.com , telescopes.com ,opticsplanet.com , orion.com , celestron.com , zhumell.com and a whole bunch more. for more sites google whatever you need on google Paul K
