I am attempting to help my friend with his homework. Not giving him the answers, but trying to help. If someone can give me the answers, I can better help him out (he doesn’t have the text book with him at the moment).

In the play, Galileo, Galileo and the Venetians were very interested in the telescope. What are Galileo’s interests in the telescope? And what are the Venetians’ interests in the telescope?

It may sound simplistic, but you must remember that the telescope was a new invention in Galileo time. Galileo discovered, or at least became aware, that the telescope allowed him to see heavenly bodies more clearly. The movement of the moon, stars, and planets became a fascination for him. It had been theorized that the Earth moved around the Sun rather than what the Church preached, which was that the Sun and all other heavenly bodies revolved around the Earth. Galileo studies indicated that the Church was wrong. Galileo wrote of his finding and was tried for heresy and found guilty. Drakestone
