For class we are doing a debate on Canada getting a space telescope. I am the Pro side and need to come up with reasons why Canada should build its own space telescope BY TOMORROW.
Please and thank you! :)

Really, there are none. The cost of a space telescope such as the Hubble is very large. Canada could not easily afford it. It is better for Canada to be a participant in an international astronomy project. scottsdalehigh64

that way we would have more than one eye in the sky. Right now the only eye in the sky is the Hubble space telescope. Vaibhav

its called “division of labor” if you only have one telescope in the sky, and a ton of people wanting to use it, everybody will only get a “small piece of the pie” when it comes to the time they can use it for. and if you don’t even own the telescope, for example you’re a Canadian who wants to use an American telescope, the owner might give American more time than Canadians.

in short more telescopes in the sky equals more things we can look at, without having to compete for time. evirustheslaye

Canada already has one. Do a search for MOST, Microvariability and Oscillations of STars. Viola At Neon

Not only is MOST nearly 7 seven years old now, it is also the smallest space telescope up there - Nyx

Canada’s national debt is supposed to go over $500,000,000 this weekend. We don’t need to push it further over that when we can just download the pictures from Wikipedia… calnickel
