What’s the cheapest telescope with a camera mount?
water_skipper asked:
What’s the cheapest telescope with a camera mount? I want to put a Fujifilm camera on a telescope. Fujifilm cameras work with Nikon lenses. It’s an SLR obviously. I don’t have any specific needs. I want want something fun to play with so I want to spend as little as possible.

I don’t have much time, only enough to say that you need to do research before starting astrophotography, especially with an SLR. Google it, and start slowly. Doing it through a scope is hard and takes practice and money for all the rolls of film that you’ll go through to get a decent shot.

You can mount a camera to just about any Telescope, all you need is the right adapters.
BUT that does not mean you should do it !!!
Astro imaging takes some very precise equipment and trying to do it with some cheapo setup will only lead to frustration, believe me, I’ve been there.
Why not take Astrophotos with your camera just mounted on a Tripod?
Depending on the lenses you have available, you can take some very nice star images.
Take a look at some of the Astrophoto websites and you’ll get an idea what can be done with just a camera alone.
Try there are lots of articles there that show you what can be done.

There are lots of cheap telescopes with camera mounts, but they will be frustrating to use; not my idea of fun. If you just want something for terrestrial photos, consider the Orion 80mm f/5 refractor:
This is effectively a 400mm f/5 telephoto lens, and comes with a T-thread adapter built-in.
If you’re interested in astronomical objects, things immediately start getting very expensive, as you must have an accurate and solid equatorial mount to drive whatever telescope you get; we’re talking $1000 plus here. Read some books on astrophotography to find less expensive approaches, such as Michael Covington’s book. Don’t believe the ads for cheap telescopes which promise they can do astrophotography: all lies!
