Where can I find a telescope that will work on my digital camera?

telescope
freespiritphotography asked:

I have a Nikon D70 digital camera. I was told that as long as I had a T-mount, I can use a telescope on my camera. However, the person that told me did not have information as to which telescopes I need to use for my camera. I’ve searched and have come up with nothing. I’m hoping someone knows something about this. {:O)

I’m not looking for anything major as far as telescopes go, the cheaper the better, and the shorter the better. {:O)

Try Cheapest Prices Search Engine. Everything is listed there including almost every product, merchant and prices from all of them. New, used, refurbished, eBay, clearance, overstocks, etc.

It’s going to be a big headache!

A t-mount requires setting for prime focus, as if the telescope was a huget telephoto lens.

You can also put the camera over the telescope eyepiece using the normal lens, but do this with care (get a 1A or Haze filter for the Nikon lens) and look through the camera to see if you can see things.

This method will only work for things like the moon.

For T-mount you’ll need to experiment with “draw tubes” extensions, removing the prism (straight into the back rack and pinon) and experimenting.

I’d strongly suggest you visit an Amateur Astronomy Star Party where they take pictures and see how they do it and get advice from them.

Some telescopes, like the Questar, come with Nikon back mounts for direct mounting, but I’d also get a hands-on look at how that works.
