Where can I find an inexpensive, good quality telescope?

My boyfriend has wanted a telescope for years, and I think it would be the perfect birthday presents- however, most of the ones I have looked at are several 100 dollars, and I have no experience with telescopes, so finding an inexpensive one of good quality would be hard for me.

go to and click on the customer support page, and then faqs, and the first one is on choosing one. they have some info on the various types. I have one, but it was rather more than what you want to spend. I did a search and Target has one for $150, and I’ve seen them at Walmart for $300. I suggest you do a little research first before you buy one. Also you might try to find one used on ebay. ( I tried to give you the whole link, but it wouldn’t work.)
