Johnny asked:

Which would have a stronger magnification a 5mm or a 20mm telescope eyepiece?

  1. Tom S Says:

    Lower numbers give higher magnification.

You can compute the magnification by dividing the focal length of the telescope by the focal length of the eyepiece, so eyepieces with short focal lengths make for higher magnifications. The 5mm eyepiece would magnify 4 times as much as the 20mm eyepiece.

It would probably make a lousier image, though. I prefer small and crisp images to big and fuzzy ones.
